First day of spring – soft breezes, puffy clouds – a beautiful day. I’ve got my tomatoes transplanted and in the ground, some baby bok choy, and my sunflowers are nearly a foot tall…
My tomatoes are in the ground because, you see, I’m not planning on going anywhere this summer. I got to take off all last summer just to be outside and put some miles on my trail runners, but this summer I’m sticking to weekend warrior-ing and a 9-5.
Perhaps you, too, are staying in town, dreaming of waking up to sunrises and birdsong and trees, of walking through the woods, of settling down to a steaming bowl of rehydrated bean soup before tucking yourself into a nylon cocoon. If so, tune in, and follow along with our hikers as they send us back the sounds of the trail.
Hey Gizmo and all! I just want to say that I love listening to this podcast. I am 55, with foot issues that will prevent me from thru hiking, except vicariously, through your experiences. LOVE IT.
From Michigan, I travel to National parks and hike a few miles here and there, but holy cow –your foot stories! Wow, I don’t know if I could do this even if I was 25 and really fit! This is so inspiring and I hope to hike in many of the places you talk about, but in really small doses! Traveling to Portland and Columbia Gorge this summer!
